The IRS website says the government offered three stimulus checks in 2020 and 2021. It includes no information about a 2024 stimulus payment.
The holidays are a time of giving, but contrary to social media posts, a $2,200 federal stimulus check isn’t part of the largesse.
"A new amendment to the Affordable Care Act now allows all Louisiana citizens to receive a one-time $2,200 holiday stimulus payment," said a Dec. 15 Facebook video that mimics a news broadcast. "This financial boost is designed to help families manage the impact of rising inflation during the holidays."
Other versions of the video shared on Facebook say the $2,200 holiday stimulus check is available to residents in Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio, Arizona, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Wisconsin.

But the videos are a scam. The federal government is not offering a 2024 holiday stimulus check.
The videos’ narrator says people can apply for the payment by clicking the link in the posts by the end of the month. The link redirects to a website to apply for a health plan through a Las Vegas-based insurance agency, not an official government website. Legitimate government websites use ".gov" or ".mil" domains in their addresses.
