Look, up in the sky! It’s an angel, it’s a horse, it’s an altered video!

If Your Time is short

  • This video was altered.

People shout and scream and several point skyward in a video circulating on Facebook before the camera cuts to a fully formed figure that stands among the clouds before retreating.

"It’s really Angel in Palestine," text over the video says. Amen."

This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)

Searching for "angel in Palestine" led us to the TikTok page of @myuz_gaza1, who shared the video in December.

But it’s clearly edited.

Featured Fact-check

A video the account posted in January appears to show the same people pointing at the sky before the clip cuts to a winged angel amid the clouds. This time, the description says "Angel cloud in the sky of Ukraine Amen."

Another posted in January appears to show the people pointing at horses in the sky.

There are more scenarios featuring the same people pointing with different images in the clouds, among other scenes of fantastic apparitions in different places. Some of the videos reuse the same audio and the same images of people, animals and buildings materializing amid the clouds.

It’s creative, but isn’t real.

We rate claims that this video shows people reacting to the real appearance of a supposed angel in the sky in Palestine False.
