- This photo was taken during protests in Paris on Dec. 5, not in Portland, Ore., where demonstrators have protested an eviction.
For months demonstrators have protested the eviction of a Black and indigenous family in Portland, Ore., but an image of two people with arms outstretched amid smoke on a city street does not show that effort.
Some social media posts claim otherwise.
"MAYHEM in Oregon!" one post says. "Violence Erupts!"

Indeed, the photo was taken by AFP photographer Anne-Christine Poujoulat in Paris on Dec. 5. The photo shows demonstrators protesting against a proposed security law that would restrict people from filming police officers among other controversial rules.
