No, Donald Trump did not post that Chiefs lost Super Bowl because of ‘DEI nonsense’

President Donald Trump posted a couple of times on social media after attending Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, falsely saying that Taylor Swift was "booed out of the stadium."

But he didn’t post on social media about the Kansas City Chiefs’ diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives or the Philadelphia Eagles receiving U.S. Agency for International Development funding.

Multiple users on Threads have shared a fabricated Feb. 9 Truth Social post from Trump. The post reads, "The Chiefs’ Super Bowl performance was a disaster — totally embarrassing! Maybe too focused on DEI nonsense instead of winning? Meanwhile, the Eagles get all the help — USAID money flowing in like water. And let’s not forget Taylor Swift — her presence was a distraction for Travis Kelce. The only good part? The massive cheers for me — louder than anything at the game! People are saying the most ever at a Super Bowl. The fans know!"

The post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and Threads.)

This isn’t a real Trump Truth Social post, and most claims in the post are also false. One giveaway: The font is not the default font used for posts on Truth Social.

The Chiefs, for example, help run an education program to teach elementary school students about "race, diversity, inclusion and acceptance."

Trump’s real posts about Swift follow his long-standing tension with the pop music superstar, who endorsed his Democratic presidential rivals in 2020 and 2024. During the game, Trump posted a video comparing the crowd’s reaction to his and Swift's appearance on the jumbotron. After the game ended, he posted again, writing, "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got booed out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!" 

Swift received boos from the crowd when she was on the jumbotron, but she didn’t leave the game, and it’s not clear whether the boos had to do with politics or her support for her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
