President Donald Trump has not announced, and Congress has not passed, any new stimulus checks for Americans.
The post refers people to the website "findhelp.org," which is not an official federal government site. We found no information on the site about a federal government program giving out $18,000 checks.
Two weeks into President Donald Trump’s second term, an Instagram post claimed Trump was promising large cash payments to all Americans.
The post shared a video of a man saying, "The Trump administration is giving each and every adult in America $18,000." The man claimed people could go to "findhelp.org" to get the money.
But this post is wrong.

Since Trump’s second term began Jan. 20, Congress has passed no bills approving $18,000 checks for all Americans. We also found no such announcement on the White House website.
On Dec. 20, 2024, the Internal Revenue Service said that through January 2025, it will issue automatic payments of up to $1,400 to people who qualified for the Recovery Rebate Credit but did not claim it in their 2021 tax returns. That refundable credit is available to people who did not receive the COVID-19 pandemic-related stimulus payments known as economic impact payments.
The IRS will inform eligible taxpayers through a letter, and the agency will deliver the payments through direct deposit or by paper check. It does not require people to click a link to a sketchy website. It requires no action at all.
By contrast, this Instagram post refers people to the website "findhelp.org," a website that says it helps connect people to government, community, health care and business services. But we found no information on the site about a federal government program giving out $18,000 to every American.
The website is also not an official federal government site. If the offer promoted in the Instagram post were real, it would be listed on a government website. Legitimate federal government websites use ".gov" or ".mil" domains in their addresses.
PolitiFact has checked several similar claims about nonexistent government programs that promise to help pay for groceries and cover other expenses.
The U.S. government warns the public about online scams, saying, "The government does not offer free money or grants to people for personal needs." People can report scams to the Federal Trade Commission.
We rate the claim that "the Trump administration is giving each and every adult in America $18,000" False.
