No, Dawgs: University of Georgia Coach Kirby Smart didn’t sever ties with Taylor Swift
Kirby Smart, coach of the University of Georgia’s football team, shared news space with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift in July, when Smart’s wife and children traveled to Amsterdam to see an Eras Tour concert.
Now Smart is drawing fresh attention in connection with Swift for purportedly distancing himself from Swift because she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.
"BREAKING: Georgia coach Kirby Smart's family ends relationship with Taylor Swift: ‘We do not support her endorsement,’" the Sept. 25 post said.

Smart didn’t immediately respond to PolitiFact’s questions about the post.
But we found no information to support the claim, or evidence that the Smarts and Swift had much of a relationship to begin with.
Featured Fact-check
No credible news outlets have reported on Smart’s family severing ties with Swift, which would be merit coverage considering the attention paid to his family members’ trip to the Netherlands.
The Athens Banner-Herald reported July 16 that Smart said his wife is a "big fan."
"She is a huge Taylor Swift fan and took my twins there and said, if you're going to go all around the world playing baseball, I'm going to go to Amsterdam and enjoy Taylor Swift," Smart said.
Smart’s X account makes no mention of Swift, and he hasn’t posted on Instagram since 2021.
Other social media accounts also shared the claim that the Smart family ended its relationship with Swift, but without a source.
We rate this claim False.
