No, this isn’t an authentic video of Reba McEntire, Dr. Mehmet Oz, discussing lung disease treatment
Another celebrity is purportedly hawking medication created by Dr. Mehmet Oz, a heart surgeon, former talk show host and President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The medication is supposedly for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD — a term used to describe conditions including emphysema.
We previously fact-checked an altered video that appeared to show Oz and actor Kevin Costner discussing such a treatment. Now, singer Reba McEntire appears to be promoting it.
"This is just selfish and inhumane," Oz appears to say in a video with what looks like a Fox News chyron reading, "Dr. Oz rejects 1 billion USD."
Oz appears to continue: "They don’t care about people’s health — all they see is money. CVS, Walgreens and other big pharma giants are willing to pay me $1 billion to take down this expose video. Everyone needs to know the truth."
The video then cuts to singer McEntire appearing to say: "Several years ago I was diagnosed with COPD. I have a wonderful life, I don’t want to die. I decided to trust Dr. Oz to treat my lung condition, he found me a healthier option by day seven of starting. I felt back to my old self, my breathing smoothed out and the constant cough disappeared."
The video shows another clip of Oz appearing to say: "Are you still troubled by lung disease? But now there is hope for it to be cured. We have invented a revolutionary pill, 60 specially designed natural herbs treating respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary fibrosis and prevent future complications."

The first clip with the Fox News chyron stems from a 2022 NBC News interview when Oz was a Republican Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate. Rather than talk about a chronic lung disease treatment, he spoke about federal mandatory minimum prison sentences, the Black Lives Matter movement, abortion and more — but not about pharmaceutical companies coming after him over his lung disease product.
The audio in the Facebook post’s altered interview clip with Oz, and the audio in the post’s other clips, don’t match the movement of Oz’s or McEntire’s mouths.
We looked for but found no evidence, such as credible news reports or public statements, that McEntire has spoken publicly about suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, much less endorsed a treatment for it from Oz.
In December 2012, Oz posted a Facebook message thanking people for reporting "fraudulent ads" through a page on his "Oz Watch" website.
"Remember," he said. "I don’t endorse anything, so if you see something using my name or likeness, it’s fake!"
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease "is (currently) an incurable disease," according to the COPD Foundation. "But with the right diagnosis and treatment, there are many things you can do to breathe better and enjoy life and live for many years."
We rate claims this video is authentic False.
