Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden aren’t dead, contrary to social media claims
If Your Time is short
- Both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are alive.
The 2024 presidential campaigns of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are alive and well, but a recent Instagram post suggests the candidates aren’t.
"Donald Trump and Joe Biden both died years ago," the July 13 post said. "They are being impersonated by someone or ‘something.’ Secretly working for China, Russia and some Arab nations to decrease the strength of America in many ways. Many others too. Senators, generals. Bodysnatchers and clones."
This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram.)
This claim, like others PolitiFact has checked about public figures replaced by impersonators, is unfounded.
Biden, who was recently in Europe for the NATO summit, is a healthy 80-year-old, according to the latest annual physical report from the White House physician.

Meanwhile, Trump, 77, whom White House doctors also deemed healthy during his presidency, has been active on the campaign trail.
Either man’s death would draw wall-to-wall news coverage, dramatically reshape the 2024 presidential race and prompt a televised state funeral.
But both of them are alive.
