No, Nancy Pelosi didn’t get drunk at a children’s benefit in a public park

"Nancy Pelosi was drunk again today," begins a post recently shared on Facebook. In reality, the only repeat happening here is we’re again debunking another allegation that the U.S. House speaker was drunk in public.

The fake story published on a web page titled USA For Trump on Nov. 29 claims Pelosi was drinking orange juice and vodka at a benefit "for local children" in a public park. The headline says: "Nancy Pelosi asked to leave children’s benefit after drunken outburst."

The story was shared on Facebook and flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook.)

That’s because it appears to have originated in September on Bustatroll.org, which describes itself as a satirical website. There, the story is tagged as "Pelosi satire."

In January, we rated a similar claim that Pelosi was removed from a benefit because she got so drunk she couldn’t stand up. This story earns the same distinction.

We rate it Pants on Fire!
