In 2019, sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on federal charges of recruiting dozens of underage girls for sex acts at his residences between 2002 and 2005. The financier with connections to powerful people died in his Manhattan jail cell later that year. A Miami Herald investigation found that there were as many as 50 victims, some of whom publicly shared their experiences.
